About Me

My writing career began in the sixth grade when I authored our class play entitled “Love Potion.”  Looking back I realize I lifted my ideas from the popular television programs of that era; The Adam’s Family and The Munsters.
In Junior High I continued to pursue my writing interests, which included handing in a book report based on a non-existent  novel.  My teacher gave me high marks for the report, never realizing the book and its story only existed in my imagination.
I became interested in journalism during high school and was the co-editor of our school newspaper during my senior year.
In college I majored in Communications and earned my Bachelor of Arts in 1976.  During this period I enrolled in every available writing course, including a class on writing screenplays.  The class required the students complete a screenplay.
There were only a handful of students who completed the course and I was one. I suspect this had more to do with my persistence and typing skills, rather than my competence as a scriptwriter.  Those were days before the personal computer, and all typing was done on the typewriter.
During my senior year internship at Cal State Fullerton I wrote and produced the public television documentary, Born to Die, which aired in 1976 on a local public television station in Anaheim California.
While my major was Communications, my emphasis was in photography.  I have since traded in my Minolta 101 and the darkroom for a digital camera and Photoshop.
After college I married my husband, Don (we just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary) and together have two children.  Our son, Scott, was married in July 2008, and our daughter, Elizabeth, was married in September of 2008.
For about ten years we lived in the mountain community of Wrightwood, California.  During those years I published the monthly community newspaper, Mountain/Hi-Desert Guide, and the full color magazine, Wrightwood Magazine.
In 1991, when my father became ill with congestive heart failure, I returned to my childhood home of Lake Havasu, with my husband and children.  For the next eight years we assumed the management of my parent’s resort, Havasu Palms.  Havasu Palms, located on the California shore of Lake Havasu, included a mobile home park, marina and the Road’s End Restaurant.
My father passed away in 1992 and in 1995 I wrote and published Where the Road Ends, telling the story of Havasu Palms.  The book is sold online and at the Lake Havasu Museum of History.
Today I live with my husband in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.  Together we are part owners of Lake Havasu City's Heirloom Realty, where Don is the Designated Broker. For six years we worked as a sales team, specializing in commercial and residential real estate, both earning our Certified Commercial Sales Specialist (CCSS), and are Graduates of the REALTOR® Institute (GRI). I also earned my E-Pro real estate certification. Don continues to be a Broker, yet I am no longer an active sales agent.
These days I am a freelance writer, photographer and webmaster. I am a content writer for Demand Studios and work on a variety of independent projects thru my small publishing company, Robeth Publishing, LLC. I also sell Avon - but I confess I do that more to shop than make money!
I enjoy genealogy research, swimming, fishing, hiking, reading and spending time with our Australian Shepherd, Lady, and Spooky the Halloween Cat. I wish Don and I could spend more time with our son and daughter, yet we are incredibly proud of them and their spouses. My wish list includes a motor home, which Don and I could use to explore the United States (and visit our kids). Of course, we would take Lady and Spooky along.
