Halloween
GhostThis friendly ghost that can be
used as a decoration or puppet.
Materials needed:
2' x 2' piece of white fabric (an old sheet or pillow case is perfect
for this)
Newspaper
Bowl of liquid starch
16" piece of yarn
Ink pen
Thumb tack
Glue
Black construction paper
Scissors
Directions:
1. Moisten some newspaper with the liquid starch and roll it into a
ball, between the size of a golf ball and tennis ball. Allow it to dry.
2. Spread out the piece of the white fabric. You will cut it into a
circle with a 24 inch diameter. But first, create a compass with
your pen and yarn, to help you draw your circle. Tie one end of the yarn
around the pen, and the other end of the yarn around the head of the
tack. After fastening to the pen and tack, try to keep the length of the
yarn around 12 inches. Place the tack in the dead center of the fabric.
Use the pen and yarn like a compass, and carefully draw a circle in the
center of the square, making a circle with a 24 inch diameter. Remove
the pen and tack from the yarn, set aside.
3. Cut out the circle. Place the dried ball of newspaper under the
circle of, in the dead center, where the pin hole was. Pick up the ball
of newspaper and center of the fabric, allowing the edge of the circle
to fall into place below the ball of newspaper. You now have the ghost's
head in your hand! Use the yarn to tie around the ghost's neck,
fastening the ball of newspaper in the center of the material.
4. Decorate your ghost by cutting out eyes and a mouth from the
construction paper or felt, and glue into place.
