Pet Rock
Let your kids make their own pet rocks!
Do you remember the pet rock? That zany novelty that brought its creator
a fortune. Well maybe our pet rock won't make you rich, but it is sure
to delight the youngsters.
You'll want
to stop at the craft store and pick up some of those little plastic
eyes, where the eyeballs roll around in clear plastic. They are
relatively inexpensive.
Begin your
project with a rock hunting expedition. Explain to your crafters that
they will be creating their own pet rock, and to be on the look out for
just the right specimen.
Materials Needed:
Rock
White glue
Small plastic eyes
Felt
Scissors
Colored permanent ink felt tip pens
Directions:
1. Begin by cutting two oval shapes from the felt for your rock's shoes.
If your rock is about the size of a tennis ball, you might want to cut
ovals about 1 inch by 2 inches. Glue the felt feet onto the bottom of
the rock, so that they stick out.
2. Glue on the eyes. If desired, decorated the rock with the felt tip
pens. Your rock man will make a cheerful paperweight!
