Make a Pinwheel
Simple to make paper pinwheel
There are some fundamental childhood toys that are enjoyed by each
generation. One of these, that has no particular use other than
amusement, is the pinwheel. Just recently I was at a popular discount
store and noticed a display of colorful pinwheels, placed strategically
to lure customers into making one of those spontaneous purchases. Which
of us actually says, "gee, I think I'll go buy a pinwheel!'
Nevertheless,
children find it entertaining to capture the breeze and send the
pinwheel spinning. But why purchase one, when they make such a
delightful craft project?
Materials Needed:
Square piece of construction paper
Ruler
Scissors
Stapler
Thumb tack
Pencil with an eraser on the end
Directions:
1. Use the ruler to draw an X on the paper, from one corner to the other
corner.
2. Take the scissors and begin cutting on each line of the X, beginning
at each corner and stopping at the center of the paper.
3. Fold every other point over, stapling the tip of that point to the
center of the paper.
4. After the pinwheel is fashioned, push a thumbtack through the very
center and attach it to the eraser at the end of the pencil. Now blow!
