

1 cup sugar
1 cup dark molasses
6 tablespoons butter
1 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup raisins
1 egg (beaten)
flour
Preheat oven to 350º. Blend sugar, molasses and butter. Add baking soda to boiling water and pour over mixture, stir. Add enough four and remaining ingredients to make thick batter. Blend thoroughly. Pour into buttered and lightly floured cake pan. Bake for about 40 minutes.
