Raw Apple Cake

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups chopped raw apple
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat the oven to 350º. Butter and lightly flour a loaf pan. Blend together shortening, sugar and egg. Sift in dry ingredients. Blend. Add chopped apples and nuts. Blend thoroughly. Pour into loaf pan. Bake for 40-55 minutes.
