Print On Demand Greeting Cards
Greeting Card Universe,
a Better Way to Buy Greeting Cards
If
you think about it, print-on-demand can be green. This is especially true
for greeting cards. Instead of a greeting card company printing out hundreds
or thousands of one card design, and then having to ultimately destroy
unsold cards – print-on-demand cards are printed on a as-purchase basis. If
a card design is a flop, then there no reason to waste the ink and paper to
discover this fact.
Unlike some
print-on-demand book publishers, for the consumer print-on-demand greeting cards are often
less expensive than standard greeting cards. Plus, the selection and
convenience is amazing. As for the quality, if it is from Greeting Card
Universe (GCU), the cards are printed on heavy card stock and the print
quality is first rate. They aren’t printed on flimsy paper.
You can purchase a card
at GCU for just $2.79 and they have discounts for bulk orders. I recently
purchased a card for my sister, had it personalized and sent directly to
her. It cost me less than $4 – less than what I would have paid had I
purchased a comparable quality card in a local store and paid for postage.
Not to mention, I couldn’t personalize a store bought card in the same way.
It also saved me time.
One of the cool things
about Greeting Card Universe is the selection. If you are looking for an
unusual event card or age specific card, chances are you will find what you
are looking for. If you want a card aimed at your aunt, coach or
cousin, they are there.
At Greeting Card Universe
freelance artists and photographers open their own “stores” and create
cards. Each card is put through an approval process, and some are
rejected or sent back for edits. Each time an artist sells a card, GCU
fulfills the order and gives the artist a share of the revenue.
Another cool feature is
the ability to edit the cards. If you are buying one and love the card’s
front but aren’t thrilled with the message inside, you can easily change the
message while ordering. You can either order cards and have them sent to
you, or have a one mailed directly to the recipient. The cost for this is
usually less than buying a similar quality card at a card shop.
Take time to browse the
site. I will admit, some of the cards aren’t my cup of tea, and if you just
glance at the first page of the Greeting Card Universe website you may
dismiss it and move elsewhere. Don’t! There are some amazing artists
featured on the site. Remember, the cards are made by artists – and
art is a very personal thing. What doesn’t turn me on may thrill someone
else. That is the beauty of GCU, there is something for all tastes!
I have two shops set up on GCU. They are:

There are over 3,000 artists on the site,
so this is just a sampling of the wonderful
cards and artists you will discover
at Greeting Card Universe.
